Team in Makkah

The Umrah Badal performed through this site is done in person, in Masjid al-Haram, by a team based in Makkah. Shariah-reviewed by Shaykh Abu Bakar Mukhtar.

A small team based in Makkah, performing Umrah on behalf of those who cannot travel.

The work this site is built around is not done remotely. It is performed in person, in Masjid al-Haram, by people who live in Makkah and visit the Haram regularly. This page exists to be transparent about who that team is and how they are connected to the Islamic scholarship that informs the rulings we publish.

Who performs the Umrah

The Umrah Badals booked through this site are performed by students of knowledge based in Makkah, including students connected to Dar Ul Hadith Makkiyah. Each performer has already completed their own Umrah, which is the condition the majority of Hanafi, Shafi’i, and Hanbali scholars require before performing Umrah on behalf of another.

We do not name individual performers publicly. This is for two reasons. First, the act itself, an act of worship dedicated to a named person, is meant to be done with sincerity, not display. Second, the team rotates depending on availability, the time of year, and the load of bookings.

What we can confirm is that every booking goes through the same internal process described on the how we perform Umrah Badal page.

Shariah review

The Islamic rulings published on this site are reviewed by Shaykh Abu Bakar Mukhtar.

Shaykh Abu Bakar was born in 1991 in Sialkot, Pakistan and raised in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is a graduate of Shariah from Dar Ul Hadith Makkiyah. He has studied under named scholars including Shaykh Mohammed Ali Adam, Shaykh Khalid al-Fawzi, Shaykh Abdulaziz Ali, and Shaykh Adnan Safa Khan at Dar Ul Hadith, and has further studied with Shaykh Salih bin Fawzan al-Fawzan, Shaykh Saad al-Shathri (Haram, Makkah), Shaykh Salih al-Sindi (Madinah), Shaykh Salih al-Aseemi (Haram, Madinah), Shaykh Ahmed al-Hazmi (Makkah), and Shaykh Abdul Kareem al-Khadeer (Haram, Makkah).

Shaykh Abu Bakar is the head of the Urdu department at the Islamic Education Foundation. He has conducted Islamic courses in person and online, including studies in Usool e Thalatha, Kitab ut Tawheed, Aqeedah Wasitiyyah, and various works of fiqh and tafsir. What “based in Makkah” actually means

“Based in Makkah” on this site means exactly what it sounds like. The team is physically resident in Makkah, prays in Masjid al-Haram regularly, and performs Umrah from within the city, not arranged from abroad through an intermediary.

This matters because Umrah Badal cannot be performed remotely. The full set of rituals, entering Ihram, performing seven circuits of Tawaf around the Kaaba, walking seven laps between Safa and Marwa, and the Taqsir at the end, must take place at Masjid al-Haram. A site that takes bookings without people present in Makkah cannot fulfill the Umrah it sold.

Independence from any other brand

umrabadal.com operates independently. Where you see the Shaykh’s name on this site, it refers to his role as Shariah reviewer for the Islamic content published here. No claim is being made that any institution he has studied at endorses this service.
