Once the booking is confirmed and the Umrah is performed, a lot of people ask the same thing: what actually happens now? Does the reward go immediately? Does it reach them in full? How does it work?
These are fair questions. Here is what Islamic scholarship says.
The reward transfers through the intention
Before entering Ihram, the person performing the Umrah Badal makes the intention out loud: “O Allah, I am performing this Umrah on behalf of [name of your loved one].” From that point, every act of the Umrah is performed in that person’s name. The Tawaf, the Sa’i, the Taqsir. All of it dedicated.
Scholars describe this through the concept of gifting reward. You perform the act. The reward of that act belongs to you by default. You then gift it to the person you named through your sincere intention. Allah conveys that reward to them.
Does it reach them immediately?
The majority of scholars say yes. The Prophet ﷺ was asked whether acts done on behalf of the deceased benefit them. He said yes. (Bukhari, Muslim, An-Nasa’i) There is no indication in the texts that the reward is delayed or partial. It is gifted in full at the time of the act.
Do you lose your own reward by gifting it?
No. This is something many people wonder about and the answer is clear: you do not lose anything. Both you and the person you dedicated it to receive reward. This is the generosity of Allah. The reward is not a fixed amount that gets divided. You get yours. They get theirs.
What does the video proof show?
The video we send shows the Tawaf being performed in Masjid al-Haram. You can see the Kaaba. You can see the circumambulation. It gives you something tangible to hold onto, proof that the act was completed in the right place, at the right time, with the right intention.
Many people watch the video more than once. Some share it with family. It is not a religious requirement but it matters to people, and that is why we include it with every booking without exception.
Can you arrange it for multiple people?
Yes, but each Umrah Badal is dedicated to one person. One booking, one name, one intention. If you want to arrange it for both your mother and your father, you book twice. Many people do this, sometimes on the same day.
Is there a best time?
The Prophet ﷺ said that Umrah in Ramadan carries reward equal to Hajj. The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are when good deeds are most beloved to Allah. These are the best windows if you can arrange it then.
But any day is the right day. The Haram is open every day. Our team is there every day. The reward reaches them whenever you book, not only in special seasons.
